Art Artist and An Audience

A guy I know.. an intriguingly thin fellow.. who hates his given name..who I think.. cant live without an audience. Talented with the pen.. pens by a pen name, is an artist of sorts.
Like all artists big or small.. popular and not quite so, needs constant praise or criticism for what he does. Some times I think he does what he does to be in the spotlight.
Its poppy for him. Addicted. Shit addicted.

The other day he won a couple of grand for somethin he wrote and he wanted the whole world to know that he did. Some thought he was making an ass of himself.. but I thought he just needed it.. he wanted to know how his creation was.. rather how good it was.. perhaps how good or bad, others - his audience.. thought it was. At least he did not hide his desire to be praised or criticised. He was true to himself.

Lou Reed thinks that it's pretentious to create art just for the sake of stroking the artist's ego.  Now.. you are stuck at Lou Reed.. aren't you!! Bums!!!

The point here is that if someone says he/she does something just to satisfy his/her own and not to show off then you can be damn sure that you have just been handed a big pile of dogshit. Everyone wants to be seen..wants to be noticed...wants to be appreciated.. no matter what.. no matter who but everyone wants an audience.

Its in our freakin genes.

Your girlfriend/wife dresses up..does something special with her appearance and her only aim in her immediate life would be to see you make it out and shower a million compliments on her - its a different story that soon you find yourself in ONEEEE shit of a spot when you cant in hell guess whats different about her appearance.

A kid learns to ride a bicycle and wont rest until the whole world acknowledges it.

Well you show me a kid who stood first in the college and I would show you a dad who wouldn't stop from using the phrase "MY son" in every other sentence for an entire year.

A guy buys a Harley..he wont roam the back alleys but will ride his ass off on the Hollywood boulevard hoping he would get something pretty holding him from behind.

Your mom spends an entire morning making somethin you love to eat...and a small "hmmmm" from your mouth while you devour it lights her face up and she forgets all the hard work she put in since morning. Cliched huh..? Tell me it aint true!!

But then there are times when we do things just for ourselves.

Its a Friday evening and the weather's a breeze..and you need a break from whatever. You grab your car keys and just split. You just hit the freeway and drive. You don't care if someone notices your pep ride or not.

After a hard day's work you come home and you are famished.. and decide to cook your heart out and binge. You dont need anyone to tell you that you have magic in your hands when it comes to makin your taste buds go crazy.

On a rainy night you grab a fag and take a draw. Dont we all know how that feels!! AAhhh!!

And at that moment...do you care if you look like James freakin Bond to the girls??!! NAAhhh!!

You play an audience to yourself. You are the artist and you are the audience.  But you need an audience none-the-less.

And the Dreamers... well what do you know about these guys..

these guys they dont go for a stadium full of people.. they dont long to be popular...they dont want to be superstars.. All they need is that one special person who means the world to them to take notice. Only one and Just that one alone is thier audience. Nothin else counts..THEY themselves dont count. One celestial smile from that one person they'll happily kiss all the gold you can find them in the universe goodbye without a moments thought. If not for this audience, the artists inside them dont matter a nickle.

Divas or dunces.. freaks or the fabulous.. nerds or the narrowheads...royals or the roadside rockstars.. everyone needs someone..anyone..at least one.

An audience in itself is an artist's amazing art - S's V.

What's the point of creating something which you can't share. And with sharing the desire of being applauded comes.

I loved the last line of the write up!

And an artist lives for his audience and after his death, lives in his memory.

Thank you. I think that if you cant share then you can't live in the full sense of life. One of the many things that I picked up from my better half.

Always,
SV.
